My recommendation to anyone who is starting a plein air painting is to first consider marking off in pencil three equal sections horizontal and three equal sections on thee surface you are ready to paint on.  2. Make a small investment into a precut piece matboard. This can be used in determining the right composition and also block out any unnecessary elements in your compositions. Plein Air Painting with Watercolors on Paper Recently moved from Pennsylvania to Northern Jacksonville, Florida. Anxious to meet friends with the same common interest I joined First Coast Plein Air Painters. FCPAP are an enthusiastic and engage group of painters. Since I have become a member I have a had a wide variety of paint outs in the South Eastern Florida region.  There is nothing more peaceful and enjoyable experiencing nature up close and painting your observation.
